3HO FOUNDATION
HEALTHY, HAPPY, HOLY ORGANIZATION
August 24, 2005
Sat Nam, Dear 3HO/Sikh Dharma Family and Friends,
Oct 6, 2005, will mark one year since our beloved Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan left his physical body. A beautiful tradition from India honors the life of the person who has passed at their first death anniversary. It is a special time to consciously relate to the Siri Singh Sahib in his subtle body and to experience his teachings directly in our hearts.
Yogi Bhajan was a man of peace. He brought peace to our hearts, peace to our families, and peace to our communities. His vision was always "peace to all, light to all, love to all." This is the time to honor his legacy and to share his message of peace.
We suggest that groups and individuals around the world dedicate some time each day to a meditative practice during the 40 days leading up to October 6th. The forty days begins on Sunday, August 28th. This is a sacred time to practice a special meditation that honors his life and spirit, uplifts your consciousness, and brings us together as a worldwide community.
Choose one of the meditation suggestions below or pick a special meditation of your own:
* Chanting "Guru Guru Wahe Guru Guru Ram Das Guru" opens your heart to the miracle of Guru Ram Das and brings peace to one's life.
* Chanting "Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Se So Hung" awakens healing energy in yourself and in our world.
* The Tratakum Meditation, staring into the eyes of the classic Yogi Bhajan photograph, for 11 minutes per day, tunes you to his subtle body.
* Chanting the Adi Mantra "Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo" for eleven minutes tunes you into the lineage of wisdom from which Yogi Bhajan taught.
After the meditation, share some food and tell stories. Informal storytelling and personal remembrances of how this great soul, Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan, touched and transformed our lives can inspire and remind us how much he is still with us – and shall always be – as he promised!
Note : We would appreciate your help in recording Yogi Bhajan's legacy, so it can be shared with the world. Tape or write down some of these wonderful stories, and email them to: Guru Darshan Kaur Khalsa, at: gurudarshankaur@sikhdharma.org, or mail audio or video tapes to her at: 01-A Ram Das Guru Place, Espanola, N.M. 87532, USA.
In Espanola, New Mexico, we will be doing a three-day Akhand Path (continuous reading of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib), ending with Gurdwara and Langar (community meal), on October 6th. If Gurdwara services are a part of your community, you may want to do the same. If you have a Yoga Center, you could invite your students to bring food, hold a special class and end it with a shared meal, or if you are a part of a small community, you can gather in each other's homes.
May God and Guru bless us each and all to carry on Yogi Bhajan's legacy of living in the light, with compassion and kindness to all. In the Name of the Cosmos which prevails through everyBODY, and the Holy Nam which holds the world,
Humbly yours,
S. Guru Amrit Kaur Khalsa
